Irfan Pathan Faces Heat From Pak Fans Over Interesting Tweet

The Pakistani cricket team cruised to a five-wicket victory over Bangladesh to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup on Sunday. However, it was the Netherlands who helped Pakistan stay alive in the tournament. South Africa’s shock defeat at the hands of the Netherlands had offered Babar Azam’s team a crucial lifeline in the T20 World Cup. And following the dramatic turn of events, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan apparently took a jab at Pakistan on social media.

The former all-rounder from India, in his tweet, wrote: “Padosiyon ke Twitter accounts sirf SUNDAY ke naam pe zinda hai. I’m lovin ‘it. [Twitter accounts in the neighbourhood seem to be active on Sundays].”

The tweet soon generated a stir on social media. A fan said that the Pakistani cricket team will face another humiliation in the T20 World Cup. “Unko beizzat hone ke liye second chance mila hai. Uska woh bharpur fayida uthaenge. [They have got another chance to face another embarrassment and they will make full use of it]”, reads the tweet.

Another user supported Irfan’s point of view, cheekily writing: “And that is a very smart sirji.”

A third user noted that the summit clash at the T20 World Cup is also scheduled to take place on Sunday. “Last Sunday bhi ko hai bhai. [The final game will also take place on Sunday].”

Returning to Super 12 matches, the Netherlands caused a major upset after outscoring South Africa by 13 runs in Sunday’s opener. The Proteas, while chasing 159, were limited to just 145. Dutch pacemaker Brandon Glover picked up three wickets in the game to earn an impressive win for his side.

South Africa’s loss ultimately made Pakistan’s qualification process quite simple. Babar Azam’s men, in their last Super 12 match, had to defeat Bangladesh and they did so convincingly. Pakistan secured a five-wicket victory over Bangladesh and became the second team from Group 2 to advance to the last four stage.
