Victoria Azarenka Hilariously Reveals Anti-Doping Agency Visit

Former World No.1 Victoria Azarenka jokingly revealed that the anti-doping agency visited her as soon as she revealed her vacation was over. Azarenka, 33, last competed in Guadalajara three weeks ago, where she ended up reaching her first semifinal of the year.

After Guadalajara, Azarenka’s season was officially over and she went on vacation. But as soon as Azarenka’s vacation was over, she had an unexpected visitor. “I posted a picture yesterday in my gym that my vacation was over. At 6am this morning anti-doping knock knock knock (laughing emoji),” Azarenka wrote on Twitter.

Azarenka achieved several notable victories in Guadalajara

En route to reaching the Guadalajara semi-final, Azarenka picked up three very notable wins defeating Paula Badosa, Cori Gauff and Madison Keys.

Azarenka then suffered a 7-6(3) 6-1 loss to Jessica Pegula. After winning the first two meetings against Pegula, Azarenka suffered her first loss to the American. After her victory over Azarenka, Pegula said that her first set was key in her victory over Pegula.

“Vika is always tough, no matter what, especially on hard courts, especially on faster conditions. I lost to her the last two times, I knew it was going to be tough. I’m happy, in a semi-final as well, that I was able to hold that first set.

I thought it was very important not to let her gain any momentum or more confidence by winning an easy first set, so I’m definitely very happy with the way I handled that situation. [Being] Being able to take that first set and start strong in the second against someone as experienced as her will always give me a lot of confidence,” Pegula said after beating Azarenka.

After beating Azarenka, Pegula defeated Maria Sakkari in the Guadalajara final to win her first WTA 1000 title.
