Carlisle United 0-0 Walsall – BBC Sport

Walsall went three League Two games unbeaten with a hard-won 0–0 draw against Carlisle.

The visitors, who had won their last three in all competitions after their FA Cup victory at Wycombe last week, started brilliantly with Danny Johnson seeing his shot clear the post after just two minutes.

After that, most of the pressure came from the home team as Owen Evans saved Jack Armer’s header from close range, while Callum Guy and Taylor Charters had chances to break the tie in the first half.

But it was Walsall who looked most threatening in the second half as Johnson’s shot was deflected by Tomas Holy and Jacob Maddox trying his luck from the edge of the area.

As the game wore on, the visitors continued to threaten as Maddox’s shot sailed over the post and Liam Gordon saw his fine effort go over the crossbar.

Carlisle had a chance to take all three points late, but Morgan Feeney’s long-range effort was too high and Ryan Edmondson’s stoppage-time header fell agonizingly wide of the post.
