Shakhtar Donetsk has slapped a whopping €100m (£87.75m) asking price on Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk, according to the athletic.
Mudryk has been linked with a move to Arsenal, Newcastle United, Brentford and Everton this year.
The Bees and Toffees reportedly attempted to sign the Ukraine international in the summer transfer window.
He was apparently worth around £30m at the time, but his form this season and his Champions League performances in particular have seen his asking price skyrocket.
Multiple reports have suggested Shakhtar wants around £90m given the transfer fee Manchester United paid to sign Antony in the summer.
And you can’t blame them, really.
United waited until the end of the transfer window to buy Antony after several offers were rejected.
Ajax stood their ground and told the Red Devils to hit their €100m valuation, knowing they would eventually.
Premier League clubs have a ridiculous amount of money and Shakhtar have every right to exploit that market.
An asking price of €100m will surely be too much for Brentford and Everton to consider a deal.
However, Arsenal and Newcastle will be able to afford Mudryk at that price, but whether they want to or not is another matter.
According to the athleticthere is also interest from Manchester City, Bayer Leverkusen and Paris Saint-Germain.
“Following his Champions League exploits” in 2022-23, Shakhtar have raised the young winger’s asking price to €100m.
The Ukrainian club’s chief executive, Sergei Palkin, said Mudryk has only reached 60 percent capacity despite shining in Europe’s elite competition.
Shakhtar director of football Dario Srna recently admitted that a club must pay “huge, huge, huge money” to sign Mudryk.
“If someone wants to buy Mudryk, they have to pay a lot, a lot, a lot of money,” Srna said.
“Otherwise, the president of the club (Rinat Akhmetov) will not sell it.
“All the clubs must respect the president, respect Shakhtar and in the end they must respect Mykhaylo Mudryk, who is one of the best players I have ever seen.
“The price is so high.”
However, Mudryk is clearly eager to find a new club.
Speaking this week, the 21-year-old spoke about Arsenal – who are currently the best in the Premier League.
“I check Arsenal on ‘myscore’ and I know when they are playing I can see them,” he said.
“I look at them too. (Arsenal is) a very dynamic team, in general not only in control of possession but also in scoring goals.”
The 21-year-old winger also said he would rather be a regular starter at Arsenal than a player in the European champions Real Madrid squad…
