The Rochester Americans (11-9-1-1) fell for the third straight time Friday night with a 5-2 loss to the Utica Comets (8-7-3-1) at Blue Cross Arena.
Rochester led 2–1 midway through the third period, but Utica responded with four unanswered goals, including two from empty nets, to clinch the win.
Lukas Rousek and Linus Weissbach scored for the Americans. Brandon Biro collected a pair of assists, while Jeremy Davies and Chase Priskie also tallied assists. Michael Houser made his ninth start of the season and deflected 15 of 18 shots.
Rochester finished 1 for 5 on the power play and 0 for 1 on the penalty shootout.
The Amerks will try to get back in the win column on Saturday in Toronto against the Marlies. The puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.
