Apple TV+ service interruption causing “content unavailable” error on Apple TV, iPhone app going offline

Update: Despite Apple’s System Status page still showing yellow for “Problem”, it seems that Apple TV+ and Apple TV Channels are coming back online for many users.

Apple TV+ and Apple TV channels are experiencing widespread downtime tonight. Services seem to be down across the board for iOS and Mac devices. When trying to open the Apple TV app, it might present a longer loading icon than usual and go directly to your Library instead of the service.

9to5Mac staff members can confirm that this issue is also affecting the tv+ tab on Apple TV devices, showing the error message “Content not available”.

The tweets are starting to pour in from affected users, with some claiming that the service has been down since 7:52pm EST.

Apple’s System Status web page has the Apple TV+ and Apple TV+ channels marked yellow with an issue. Interestingly, so is the iTunes Store. The company has yet to acknowledge any issues. At this time, it is unclear how long the services will be down. You can track it via the system status web page here.

Update: iTunes Store status is now green and no longer listed as a “Problem”.
