A 19-year-old man dies after a
shooting involving police in Santa Cruz on Friday.
He has been identified as Antonio “Totoman” Matthews of Moraldo Trace, Santa Cruz.
At around 10:15 p.m., officers from the North Shore Task Force reportedly conducted an intelligence-led operation and executed a search warrant at Matthews’ home for firearms and ammunition.
As the officers approached the home, they were allegedly met with gunshots.
They returned fire and Matthews was wounded.
Officers took him to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he was pronounced dead.
Police recovered a silver Beretta pistol, two rounds of 9mm ammunition and an extended magazine.
