Millions of iPhones went ‘dangerous’ this week, but you can fix it in seconds

APPLE has released a new update for iPhone, and that means you need to act urgently.

This is because the new iOS 16.3 update fixes security flaws that you should not ignore.

Every time a new iOS patch comes out, your out-of-date iPhone is technically considered “at risk.”

This is because there are security holes for which you haven’t installed the fixes yet.

It’s a bit like someone finally installed a lock on your door, but you haven’t turned the key to lock it yet.

Until you do, your device (and your information) may be at risk.

Apple’s security pages reveal that the iOS 16.3 update, which arrived earlier this week, fixes several flaws.

An Apple note says: “An application can access sensitive user data.”

Another more serious problem points out: “An application can execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.”

That could allow a hacker to take control of your device.

Another issue warns that “an app can override privacy preferences” for Maps.

And one reads: “Rendering maliciously crafted web content can lead to arbitrary code execution.”

Fortunately, all these bugs have been fixed with the new iOS 16.3 update.

So make sure you install it as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, not all iPhone owners can update to the latest iOS 16.3 software.

If you can update to iOS 16 then that’s fine, but with a very old iPhone model you’re going to be missing out anyway.

Here’s a list of all iOS 16 (and iOS 16.3) compatible devices:

  • iPhone 14
  • iphone 14 plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 13mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12
  • iPhone 12mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhoneX
  • iPhone 8
  • iphone 8 plus
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)

Not being able to get the latest version of iOS means that you will lose access to the most up-to-date security fixes.

These are vital patches that close the holes used by hackers to gain access to your systems.

Therefore, using a very old iPhone that cannot be updated could put you at risk.

If you can’t update to iOS 16, consider upgrading your iPhone sooner rather than later.
